The Great Dorset Steam Fair, 2nd—6th September 2009
The world’s leading steam and vintage preservation event. Over 200 working steam engines and 100 fairground organs together with the old time steam funfair, rural crafts and heavy shire horses create a fantastic atmosphere with lots to do and see. Website:
Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival, 12th—13th September 2009
The quality local foods and craft festival celebrating the cheese-making and dairy heritage of the Blackmore Vale. Mostly rained off in 2008, it’s going to be bigger and better than ever in 2009. It’s our local show and it’s great! See our “Hillyground Ark” stall selling knitted toys and greetings cards from Cath’s photographs in the craft marquee.
