The Great Dorset Steam Fair, 27th August—31st August 2008
The world’s leading steam and vintage preservation event. Over 200 working steam engines and 100 fairground organs together with the old time steam funfair, rural crafts and heavy shire horses create a fantastic atmosphere with lots to do and see. In 2008 it’s the 40th anniversary show. Website:
Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival, 13th—14th September 2008
The 10th anniversary of the quality local foods and craft festival celebrating the cheese-making and dairy heritage of the Blackmore Vale. It’s our local show and it’s great!

Inside Out Festival, 14th—23rd September 2007 (2008 dates not yet available)
This festival was new in 2007 and featured a range of outdoor performances and events throughout Dorset.
