The Bull, Stur

The Bull in Sturminster Newton.  Our nearest pub, less than 5 minutes’ walk from the cottages.  Very friendly people, and very good pub grub.  A favourite with our guests.

The Cricketers in Shroton (Iwerne Courtney).  Handy for visiting Hambledon Hill.

The Crown at Marnhull, a pretty village about 10 minutes’ drive from Sturminster Newton.  It has literary links, being Hardy’s pub “The Pure Drop”.

One of our favourite pubs for eating: The Green Man at Kings Stag, about 15 minutes’ drive from Sturminster Newton.  Seasonal and local dishes, lots of choice.  Best dessert menu in the universe!

Another of our favourite days out: a walk at Stourhead (NT) followed by lunch at the Bull; could also be combined with a visit to Alfred’s Tower (NT). 

Just down the road at Fiddleford: the Fiddleford Inn.  Very reasonably priced pub grub, decent cooking.
